"I think there probably could be something to sticking to myself, being myself. And unabashedly so. Not being afraid to take risks, and to do things my own way. I think the first time I tried to do something left-field was when I did “Ring of Fire”. It got quite a reaction, a lot of people despised it and a lot of people loved it. To me that was the best thing possible, because it allowed me to get some attention and get people talking. And I don’t think pop music is pop music if it doesn’t get people talking."
